IMAGES WORKSHOP
We tend to create or have been given a variety of internal ‘Images’ during our life in particular during our childhood. These invariably influence our personality unless we become aware of them and how they affect us. The images we will look at and work on in this workshop are the following.
The ‘Idealised Self-Image’ of ourselves and is the one we constantly try to live up to. This is a futile endeavour which inevitably results in disappointment and self loathing as this image is unrealistic and impossible to reach.
The negative images of ourselves, which fill us with shame, despair, pain and fear. We also live in dread that others might see us in that same way.
The positive and negative projected images we have of others. Typically they are of our parents, family members, relationship partners, lovers, teachers and other important people in our lives.
The images of the events and people that caused us great pain and harm. These tend to hold a lot of emotional charge and psychic trauma. We usually try to avoid the memory of these at all costs and repress them in our bodies or split them off into our energetic fields.
The images we have of God, Spirit, and Higher Forces. These are often extensions of the images of our parents. Hence they distort the true reality of The Divine and the spiritual which makes it difficult for us to distinguish between true and false perceptions.
The aims of the weekend are to attempt to:
- Discover what these images do to our inner world and how they impose themselves upon our psyche.
- Heal the effects of negative images and wherever possible to dispel them so they no longer have such an impact on us.
- Dismantle our idealised self image so we no longer are in its mercy.
- Take out some of the charge in our traumatic images if these appear.
- Finally we will seek to see ourselves in the true image of our self, our Core which in turn is a reflection of Divine Truth for "we are created in God's Image".
