What is Core Integration Psychetherapy?

Core Integration Psychetherapy is a therapeutic modality that works on all levels of our being. 'Psyche' means soul in Greek so this therapy is described as a psyche-therapy precisely because it addresses the spiritual as well as personal aspects of our self. By addressing our psychological issues and accessing our spiritual and essential reality we heal and transform our person. For this purpose it comprises a number of body-centered, psychotherapeutic and transpersonal modalities which work together in a truly holistic way.

CORE also stands for Core Energetics, Oriental Paradigms, Reichian Principles and Enosis Resources. Combined together they provide an integrated modality which connects us to our core being. Each of these strands offers a particular way to personal healing and spiritual unfoldment; brought together they create a whole that is more than the sum of its parts. It becomes a synergistic system that touches all of the human being: our body, essence, energy, personality, soul and spirit.

Core Energetics evolved from the innovative work and research of Wilhelm Reich M.D. It is a body-centered psychotherapy which works on one's body, energy, personality and core self. It was founded by John Pierrakos M.D. who was Reich's student and colleague. It incorporates transpersonal and spiritual paradigms along with Reichian practices and principles. For a greater depth into this therapeutic approach please go to the linked Core Energetics website.

Oriental Paradigms are predominantly Chinese in origin together with certain Tibetan and Japanese systems. They all have spiritual, psychological and physical practices. They are mainly Daoist and Buddhist and include Medical Qigong, Daoist Qi Gong, Wu Xi and Zen. Classical Chinese Medicine also contributes its ancient understandings, in particular the theories of Yin-Yang, the Three Treasures and the Cycle of the Five Elements.

Reichian Principles are based on Wilhelm Reich's psychological and energetic discoveries and subsequent body-centered therapies. As well as Core Energetics they include Bioenergetics, Deep Bodywork, Radix and Analytic Body Psychotherapy. As their accent is on the body, their benefits include anchoring our spiritual and psychological reality in this world. It is the embodiment of our spirituality into our personality and physicality that makes Core Integration Psychetherapy an effective holistic modality.

Enosis Resources includes the spiritual components that the Heart of Being brings to Core Integration. It also includes all the resources that other facilitators bring to enrich and broaden particular courses and workshops.

Heart of Being comprises of a number of spiritual models and traditions, both ancient and contemporary, from the East and the West. Principal contemporary sources are The Quortonio Pattern, Chan teachings, Cellular Connection, Pathwork and Diamond Logos. Traditional sources are classical Vedic, Daoist and Buddhist spiritual and energetic perceptions, these also being part of Oriental Paradigms. Insights derived from Abrahamic traditional mysticism are also included. Perceptions based on the above together with original realisations are synthesized into a unique interpretation of spirituality, psychology and energetic theory for our modern times. It is formulated with precise structures, clear principles and specifically tailored practices to provide a workable application for personal transformation and spiritual development.

Enosis means union in Greek and denotes the overall frame that unites Core Integration Psychetherapy and Heart of Being. It also acknowledges the collaboration with other practitioners to further this work and which provides a community of mutually supportive facilitators.
